After seven years sailing the world aboard a 39ft ketch, Emma Casey swapped the sea for a sewing machine and a leatherwork bench.
Reclaimed sails, otherwise fated to the landfill, have a story to tell.
Miles beneath the keel and weather endured are charted in the worn sections, stains, rips and chafe points of the fabric. Modern Dacron and carbon fiber sails are incredibly lightweight, strong and water resistant. Why not give them a second wind?
